About David Lawrence Oberg

David Oberg Headshot, Oberg Law Group APC

David is the founder and managing partner of Oberg Law Group.  He focuses his practice on business transactions, real estate, and bankruptcy.  Having now owned and operated Oberg Law for nearly 30 years, David understands the unique challenges business owners face, and uses that knowledge to guide a diverse group of clients which range from manufacturers to physicians.

David’s clients use his experience as “outside” in-house counsel to guide them through all aspects of the life cycle of their business.  He provides guidance at the formation stage, during the operations stage and when it comes to transition through sale, merger or winddown. In addition, David has his California and Arizona Real Estate Broker’s license, which provides a strong foundation for advising clients in commercial real estate matters.

Before forming Oberg Law, David had a highly successful practice as a partner at the national law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery.  David’s approach is simple – he strives to deliver the highest quality legal counsel in the most cost-efficient manner.  He believes in long-term relationships with his clients, and remains accessible and responsive to their business needs.

David has written several articles and lectured on various business topics. He obtained his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law (S.C.A.L.E. program) in 1988, and his bachelors degree (cum laude) in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge in 1986.  He continues to use his business education and experience today to help guide clients in their business matters.

Community service has always been important to David.  He served as a Level I Reserve Police officer for the Culver City Police Department for 32 years, retiring as a Reserve Captain in 2015.  He continues to serve on several non-profit boards today.

Outside of his work, David is an avid golfer, carpenter, and magician.  He has been a performing member of the Academy of Magical Arts (Magic Castle) since he was 12.
